· FX 2026-08-31 · Canada Border Services Agency

A cosmetics & skincare product costing ₩18,000 to make and weighing 0.3kg lands in Canada at about $34.34 once freight, duty and GST/HST are paid. To keep a 45% margin after marketplace fees, price it at C$135.99.

Knowing your landed cost does not give you a price. This works from what the product costs to make and what it weighs, through duty, GST/HST and freight, to a number you can actually put on the page in CAD — rounded the way Canada prices things.

What actually differs about selling into Canada

  • Amazon.ca takes 8–15% on a market roughly a tenth the size of the US, so per-unit freight matters more.
  • Quebec requires French on packaging and listings. Skipping it limits you to the rest of the country.
  • CUSMA raises the duty threshold to CAD 150 for goods shipped from the US — routing through a US warehouse can remove duty entirely.

Questions people ask

How do I price a product for Canada?

Start from what it costs you to make and what it weighs. Add freight for that weight, duty at your HS rate, and GST/HST where it applies — that is your landed cost. Divide by one minus your target margin and fees, convert to CAD, then round to what Canada shoppers expect to see. This calculator does all of it.

Does weight really change the retail price?

On small parcels it dominates. On this page a 0.1kg unit and a 2kg unit differ by C$83 at the same margin, because freight is charged per kilo and small shipments carry a fixed base fee. Bulky-but-light products are charged on volumetric weight instead.

Is there a duty-free threshold for Canada?

The threshold is C$20. CAD 20 generally, raised to CAD 40 for tax and CAD 150 for duty on shipments from the US and Mexico under CUSMA.

It is rounded to the convention of the market. Canada prices land on C$….99, so the calculator rounds up to the nearest one rather than showing a raw figure nobody would put on a page.
